At a glance
SaveOnEd is an Arizona campus marketplace. We collect the information needed to authenticate accounts, publish and moderate auctions, record bids, send transaction updates, measure traffic, prevent abuse, and help users meet safely. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we do not receive that provider’s password. If you create an email account, your password is transformed into a secure password hash by our authentication system rather than stored as readable text.
1. Information we collect
Account and campus information
If you create an email account, we collect your name, email address, email-verification status, and a securely transformed password credential. If you use Google or Apple, that provider may give us your name, email address, provider account identifier, and profile image. We may collect your chosen campus, affiliation, verification status, and information you submit to establish eligibility.
Listings, auctions, and transactions
We collect listing titles, descriptions, categories, condition, prices, photos, meetup details, clarifications, bids, buy-now activity, watchlist activity, moderation decisions, reports, and related timestamps. Public listing details and display names are visible to marketplace visitors.
Automated safety screening
Before a submitted listing can enter the ordinary owner approval queue, its text and images may be processed by automated safety tools. We may record whether a check completed, the categories or policy reasons returned, scores or related signals, the affected listing or photo, the review outcome, and security evidence needed to investigate serious flags. Automated screening can make mistakes and cannot reliably determine a person’s age from an ordinary image. Flagged or unscanned listings remain private until SaveOnEd resolves the hold.
Communications and support
We collect messages you send to SaveOnEd, reports, review notes, and transactional email delivery status. If user messaging is introduced, the applicable messages and metadata may be processed to deliver the feature and address safety reports.
Device, security, and analytics data
We process network and device information such as IP address, browser user agent, request origin, CAPTCHA and other security signals, page path, referring host, campaign tags, campus selection, and approximate timestamps. We may derive an approximate city, state or region, and country from network-edge location metadata for aggregate traffic reporting. Our first-party traffic system stores one-way visitor and session hashes rather than raw IP addresses, and raw IP addresses are not retained in analytics. We do not store full analytics query strings. Separate, access-restricted security logs may preserve relevant IP addresses and related request information when needed to detect, investigate, document, or respond to suspected abuse, fraud, threats, prohibited content, or unlawful activity.
Legal acceptance
We record the version and time of your Terms and Privacy acceptance, a random consent identifier, and one-way hashes used to attach acceptance to your account and detect abuse.
2. How we use information
- provide sign-in, campus selection, listings, auctions, bids, seller tools, and owner review;
- send auction-submission, approval, bid, outbid, safety, and account notifications;
- verify users, enforce auction rules, prevent spam, fraud, manipulation, and security threats;
- moderate listings, investigate reports, resolve disputes, and maintain audit records;
- understand traffic, marketplace demand, campus activity, and product performance;
- create aggregate or deidentified reports for business planning and potential sponsors; and
- comply with law, enforce our Terms, and protect users, SaveOnEd, and the public.
We use personal information only for purposes reasonably compatible with why it was collected, unless we provide additional notice or obtain consent.
4. Cookies, local storage, and analytics choices
We use necessary cookies for secure sessions, authentication, legal-consent records, and abuse prevention. Local storage may remember your campus, demo experience state, and anonymous analytics identifiers. Our first-party analytics measures page views, traffic sources, campaigns, campus selection, and approximate city, region, and country. When the hosting edge supplies only a country, a coarse IP-based location provider may return city and region to SaveOnEd’s analytics endpoint. SaveOnEd stores only the coarse fields and does not retain the raw IP address in analytics. Geographic data may be imprecise when a visitor uses a VPN, proxy, mobile carrier gateway, or privacy relay.
We also use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate audience activity, including visits, traffic sources, pages viewed, device category, and approximate geography. Google may process device identifiers, cookies, and network information under its own terms and privacy practices. SaveOnEd accesses aggregate reports through a read-only server connection; the service-account credential is never sent to visitors’ browsers.
When a browser sends Global Privacy Control or “Do Not Track,” SaveOnEd does not load optional Google Analytics, run first-party analytics collection, or perform the location lookup in that browser. Necessary authentication, security, consent, and transaction processing still operate. Browser settings can clear cookies and local storage, but doing so may sign you out or reset preferences.
5. Retention and security
We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described here, including account operation, marketplace integrity, dispute handling, fraud prevention, backups, legal obligations, and enforcement. Active listings and bids are retained while needed to provide the Service. Removed listings, photos, moderation results, audit logs, legal-consent records, transaction history, and relevant security evidence may be retained longer when needed for safety, recovery, disputes, investigations, legal holds, reporting to authorities, or compliance. Short-lived CAPTCHA passes expire automatically. Access-restricted security events are assigned an expiration period unless a longer legal or safety hold is needed. We delete or deidentify information when it is no longer reasonably needed.
We take marketplace safety and security seriously. We may flag suspicious accounts, listings, uploads, bids, devices, and network activity; keep a listing private while automated or human review is incomplete; restrict or suspend access; preserve relevant evidence, including IP addresses; and investigate or report suspected criminal, exploitative, fraudulent, threatening, or otherwise unlawful activity to the appropriate authorities. We may also cooperate with valid legal requests and emergency disclosures permitted by law.
We use technical and organizational safeguards including verified email or provider-based authentication, securely transformed password credentials, server-side CAPTCHA and authorization checks, access controls, request validation, rate limits, private object storage, hashed identifiers, audit records, and fail-closed listing moderation. No internet service or automated screening system can guarantee absolute security or perfect classification. Contact us promptly if you believe your account or information has been compromised.
6. Your privacy rights and choices
Depending on where you live and subject to legal exceptions, you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information, and to appeal a denied request. You may also have rights concerning sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or sensitive information. SaveOnEd does not discriminate against anyone for exercising a privacy right.
Signed-in members can start permanent account deletion from Delete My Account on the website or from Safety & Privacy in the mobile app. We send a confirmation link to the account email before deletion begins. Deletion removes authentication access, profile details, private uploads, watchlists, and other eligible personal information. To preserve marketplace integrity and protect users, completed transaction, moderation, legal-consent, fraud-prevention, and dispute records may be retained in deidentified or limited form when reasonably necessary or required by law.
You may also email hello@saveoned.com with “Privacy Request” in the subject. We may verify your identity before responding. An authorized agent may submit a request when applicable, but we may require proof of authority and identity. You can correct certain listing and account details through available seller tools.
SaveOnEd does not sell personal information and does not currently use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
7. Age limits
SaveOnEd is exclusively for adults age 18 and older. Anyone under 18 is prohibited from accessing or using the Service, creating an account, or participating in marketplace activity. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that an account or personal information belongs to a person under 18, we may suspend or terminate the account and delete the information, subject to any retention required for safety, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or dispute handling. If you believe a person under 18 has provided information to SaveOnEd, contact us at hello@saveoned.com so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
8. Changes and contact
We may update this notice as SaveOnEd grows. We will post the revised version and effective date, and provide additional notice or request renewed acknowledgment when required. If a change materially affects how we use previously collected information, we will handle it as required by law.
9. Credit cards and optional upgrade payments
When you select a paid auction upgrade, SaveOnEd records the selected benefits, amount, currency, payment status, timestamps, and Stripe checkout and payment identifiers needed to create and confirm the transaction, issue any authorized refund, respond to support requests or disputes, prevent fraud, maintain accounting records, and document whether the listing entered owner review.
Stripe collects and processes the card number, expiration date, security code, billing details, payment-method identifiers, and related device, fraud, and transaction information under Stripe’s own privacy terms. SaveOnEd receives transaction status and limited payment details needed to operate the purchase, but does not receive or store your full card number or card security code.
For a paid listing, SaveOnEd stores the auction privately before checkout. Stripe’s payment confirmation moves the auction into owner review; an incomplete, cancelled, or failed payment leaves it as a private draft. Payment and related records may be retained as described above for accounting, fraud prevention, chargebacks, disputes, legal compliance, and enforcement of the paid-upgrade and refund policy.
