1. Agreement to these Terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and SaveOnEd (“SaveOnEd,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) governing your access to saveoned.com, our future mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By creating an account, clicking the acceptance box, listing an item, or placing a bid, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Notice. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility and accounts — 18+ only

You must be 18 years of age or older to create an account, join, access, or use SaveOnEd.

Anyone under 18 is prohibited from browsing or using the marketplace, creating an account, listing an item, placing a bid, requesting a buy-now purchase, contacting another user through the Service, attending a handoff, or otherwise participating in a SaveOnEd transaction. A parent, guardian, or other adult may not create or lend an account to enable a person under 18 to participate. If you are under 18, do not access or use the Service.

By creating an account or using SaveOnEd, you represent that you are at least 18 and legally able to enter a contract. You must provide accurate account information, use an email address or third-party account you are authorized to use, complete any required email verification, and protect your password and sign-in access. You are responsible for activity under your account.

You may not impersonate another person, create accounts to evade restrictions, share access in a way that compromises security, or use automated means to access the Service without written permission. We may request reasonable proof of age, suspend or terminate an account if we reasonably believe its user is under 18, and remove activity associated with an ineligible account.

3. SaveOnEd’s role

SaveOnEd provides a local, items-only marketplace where adult users can discover lawful physical goods, run auctions, and communicate transaction details. SaveOnEd provides the platform only. SaveOnEd is not the buyer, seller, auctioneer, broker, payment guarantor, delivery service, carrier, insurer, manufacturer, authenticator, or owner of listed items. SaveOnEd does not take possession of items or become a party to a transaction.

Transactions and in-person handoffs occur directly between users and at their own risk. SaveOnEd does not verify or guarantee a user’s identity; an item’s ownership, condition, authenticity, safety, legality, quality, description, or availability; payment; delivery; refunds; or either user’s performance.

Independent service: SaveOnEd is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, the University of Arizona, Maricopa Community Colleges, or any other college or university.

4. Items-only marketplace and seller responsibilities

Only lawful physical items may be listed. SaveOnEd does not permit listings for services, labor, jobs, employment opportunities, housing or roommates, real-property rentals, event tickets, travel, donations, personal requests, dating or companionship, financial products, digital accounts, login credentials, downloadable products, virtual currency, or other non-item offers.

Sellers must own each item or have the legal authority to sell it, and must be able to transfer it free of undisclosed claims, liens, or restrictions. Listings must be truthful, current, and sufficiently detailed. Photos must show the actual item unless clearly labeled otherwise and must be owned by you or used with permission. Listing photos must show the item only. If automated screening detects an actual person, face, body part, or human reflection, the photo is rejected and the seller must retake it before submitting. Printed or illustrated people that are physically part of the item, such as a book cover or product packaging, are permitted. Disclose significant defects, damage, recalls, missing parts, liens, title issues, authenticity concerns, or other facts that could affect value, ownership, legality, or safe use.

Sellers are responsible for setting a lawful starting price, optional buy-now price, meetup details, and auction duration. Creating a listing does not guarantee approval or a sale. SaveOnEd may reject or remove a listing that is not clearly a lawful physical item.

5. Auctions, bids, and buy-now activity

A bid is a genuine commitment between users to purchase the listed item for the bid amount if you are the winner, subject to inspection and any nonwaivable legal rights. Do not bid if you cannot reasonably complete the transaction. The highest valid bid shown when the countdown ends will ordinarily be treated as the winning bid, subject to moderation, technical errors, fraud review, or seller cancellation permitted before bids.

  • Bid increments and countdowns are shown in the auction experience.
  • Do not manipulate prices, coordinate fake bids, bid on your own listing, or use related accounts for “shill bidding.”
  • A seller may not back out merely because the final price is lower than hoped.
  • A buy-now request expresses genuine intent to purchase at the displayed fixed price if the seller approves it; approval closes the auction and begins the direct user-to-user handoff.
  • SaveOnEd does not automatically charge a card or hold purchase funds when a bid is placed.
  • Notifications are helpful status updates, but you remain responsible for checking the live auction.

If a winner, buyer, or seller cannot complete a transaction, they must promptly notify the other user. Repeated failure to honor valid bids, approved buy-now requests, or completed auctions may result in account restrictions. We may void bids or correct an auction affected by a clear technical error, fraud, prohibited conduct, or a material listing problem.

6. When a seller can edit an auction

Pending review

The seller may edit the title, description, category, condition, prices, meetup details, clarification, and photos.

Live with no bids

The seller may still edit all listing and auction details. Material changes may trigger another review.

Live after the first bid

To protect bidder expectations, the title, description, category, condition, photos, starting price, and buy-now price are locked. The seller may update meetup details and add a clearly labeled clarification, but may not use a clarification to materially change the item or bargain.

SaveOnEd may preserve prior versions and audit records for safety, moderation, dispute handling, and legal compliance.

6A. Credit cards and optional paid auction upgrades

Basic auctions remain free. A free auction currently includes up to three public photos, a standard auction card, normal marketplace placement, and a ten-day auction. Optional upgrades may add photo capacity, a Featured or Campus Spotlight treatment, priority placement for a stated period, or additional auction time. The full one-time price and included benefits are shown before checkout.

When you choose a paid upgrade and click “Submit auction & pay,” SaveOnEd first saves the listing as a private draft and then sends you to Stripe Checkout. By completing Stripe Checkout, you authorize SaveOnEd and Stripe to charge the displayed amount to the card or other accepted payment method you provide. SaveOnEd does not store your full card number. Stripe’s confirmation submits the draft to SaveOnEd’s owner-review queue; cancelling or failing to complete checkout leaves it private and unsubmitted.

Upgrade payment is separate from payment between a buyer and seller for an item. Paid placement does not guarantee views, bids, a buyer, a sale, or a particular position at every moment; search filters, campus selection, moderation, availability, and other promoted listings can affect display. Visibility time starts only when an approved auction goes live.

Final-sale policy: Optional upgrade fees are final and non-refundable after purchase, except where a refund is required by law or SaveOnEd cannot provide the purchased benefit because of its own error. A listing’s failure to receive views, bids, a buyer, or a sale; seller cancellation; expiration; account misuse; or removal for violating these Terms does not create a refund right. If SaveOnEd rejects an otherwise compliant listing before any paid benefit can be provided, email hello@saveoned.com for review and any refund or correction required under this policy or applicable law.

Prices or benefits may change for future purchases, but SaveOnEd will not reduce a benefit already purchased for an active auction. You remain responsible for any fees charged by your card issuer, bank, or payment provider.

7. Prohibited listings, items, and conduct

You may not list, buy, request, or facilitate:

  • any service, job, housing, ticket, digital account, downloadable product, virtual asset, personal request, or other non-physical offer;
  • illegal, stolen, counterfeit, fraudulent, or rights-infringing goods;
  • weapons, ammunition, explosives, or instructions intended to cause harm;
  • controlled substances, drug paraphernalia, prescription products, alcohol, tobacco, nicotine, or vaping products;
  • hazardous materials, recalled products, unsafe goods, or regulated medical devices;
  • adult sexual content, human remains, animals, or exploitative offers;
  • academic cheating materials or services, stolen credentials, university IDs, access cards, or restricted campus property;
  • financial instruments, deceptively sold gift cards, personal data, or accounts; or
  • anything prohibited by applicable law, campus rules, or SaveOnEd policy.

Vehicles and motorcycles may be listed only by someone legally entitled to sell them. Seller and buyer are responsible for title, lien, registration, emissions, insurance, tax, disclosure, and transfer requirements. Never transfer a vehicle without verifying identity and lawful title.

Users may not evade these rules through misleading categories, images, coded language, external links, messages, bundles, or offers made during a handoff.

8. Meetups, inspection, and payment

Meet in a well-lit public place—preferably a designated campus or police safe-exchange location—during reasonable hours. Tell someone where you are going, do not enter a stranger’s residence or vehicle, and leave if anything feels wrong. For higher-value items, consider bringing another adult.

Buyers should inspect and test an item before paying. Sellers should confirm funds before handing over an item. Users arrange payment directly; SaveOnEd does not guarantee cash, checks, electronic transfers, item condition, identity, delivery, refunds, or performance. Never send deposits, gift cards, verification codes, or payments to unlock a transaction. Report suspected fraud and contact emergency services when appropriate.

9. Moderation, reporting, blocking, suspension, and removal

We may use automated tools and human review to screen listing text and images for prohibited, exploitative, dangerous, fraudulent, or otherwise unsafe content. Automated tools can make mistakes and cannot reliably determine a person’s age from an ordinary image. A listing may be held privately, rejected, or escalated for review while we investigate. Automated screening does not replace your responsibility to follow these Terms.

Members can report a listing or user from the applicable auction or public profile and can block another member from account safety controls. Blocking prevents transactions between those accounts and hides blocked-member activity where supported, but it does not replace contacting emergency services or law enforcement when immediate danger exists. Reports must be submitted honestly and may not be used to harass another person.

We may review listings, messages reported to us, bids, accounts, and transaction records to operate and protect the Service. We may reject, pause, edit for formatting, remove, or restore content; void bids; limit features; or suspend or terminate an account when we reasonably believe these Terms, law, safety, or marketplace integrity require it. We may preserve relevant evidence and cooperate with or report matters to authorities as described in the Privacy Notice and permitted or required by law.

You may stop using the Service at any time and may initiate permanent account deletion from My Account or the mobile app’s Safety & Privacy area. Some records may remain as described in the Privacy Notice, including deidentified or limited records necessary for safety, fraud prevention, legal compliance, completed transactions, and disputes.

10. Intellectual property, disclaimers, and legal terms

Your content

You retain ownership of content you submit. You grant SaveOnEd a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, copy, resize, display, distribute, and use that content only as needed to operate, promote, secure, and improve the Service. You represent that you have the rights needed to grant this license.

Copyright and intellectual-property complaints

If you believe content infringes your rights, email hello@saveoned.com with identification of the protected work, the challenged content and its location, your contact information, a good-faith statement that the use is unauthorized, and a statement that your report is accurate and you are authorized to act. We may remove challenged content and restrict repeat infringers.

Our service

SaveOnEd’s name, design, software, and original materials are owned by SaveOnEd or its licensors. You may not copy, reverse engineer, sell, or misuse them except as law permits.

Taxes

Buyers and sellers are responsible for determining and satisfying taxes, registrations, permits, reporting, and other obligations arising from their transactions, except where SaveOnEd is legally required to collect or report something directly.

Disclaimers and release between users

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not warrant that every user is verified, every listing is accurate, every item is owned by the seller, authentic, safe, lawful, or fit for a purpose, every auction will finish without error, or every transaction will be completed.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release SaveOnEd and its personnel from claims arising from another user, a listing, an item, payment, communication, meetup, injury, theft, scam, failed handoff, or user-to-user dispute. If you have a dispute with another user, that dispute is between you and that user.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SaveOnEd and its personnel will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill, opportunities, or transactions arising from the Service or another user’s conduct. SaveOnEd’s total liability for a claim will not exceed the greater of $100 or the amount you paid directly to SaveOnEd in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so portions may not apply to you.

Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless SaveOnEd and its personnel from third-party claims, losses, liabilities, damages, judgments, costs, and reasonable legal fees arising from your listings, bids, transactions, items, content, unlawful conduct, taxes, infringement, or violation of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.

Governing law and disputes

Arizona law governs these Terms without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing a claim, you and SaveOnEd agree to make a good-faith effort to resolve it by emailing hello@saveoned.com. Unless applicable law requires otherwise, state and federal courts located in Maricopa County, Arizona will have exclusive jurisdiction. Nothing here waives rights that cannot legally be waived.

Electronic communications

You agree that SaveOnEd may provide transaction, safety, legal, and account notices electronically, including through the Service or the email associated with your account. Electronic notices satisfy any requirement that a communication be in writing to the extent permitted by law.

Changes, assignment, survival, and severability

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. We will post the effective date and request renewed acceptance when a material change requires it. You may not assign your account or rights under these Terms without our written permission; SaveOnEd may assign these Terms in connection with a reorganization, financing, sale, or transfer of the Service. Provisions that by their nature should continue—including ownership, payment obligations, disclaimers, release, liability limits, indemnity, disputes, and record preservation—survive account closure. If one provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These Terms and the Privacy Notice are the entire agreement about the Service.
